Cindy Sookdeo has worked in the HR field for ten years. She currently works at an international organization as the Director of Human Resources. Cindy actively influences organizational change, developing and implementing innovative workforce engagement strategies. She transcends conventional management practice to generate immediate and long-term results and transforms traditional HR departments into value-adding business partners contributing to bottom-line organizational success. Throughout her career, she has been a leader and a member of several professional and community organizations and boards, including the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) and the Academy of Human Resources Development (AHRD).
Cindy graduated as a distinguished scholar from the Colorado State University (U.S top public research university) with a master’s degree in Human Resources Management concentration in Organizational Leadership and Change Management. Her master’s dissertation was rewarded with excellence and kept as a faculty resource. She is currently pursuing her PhD. in Organizational Leadership and Policy Change. On January 4th, 2021, Cindy was nominated by the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) for her exemplary leadership performance. It is noteworthy that only eight percent of leaders nationwide receive this honor.
Besides her professional career, Cindy has attended and participated in several humanitarian and peacebuilding summits promoting cooperation beyond religion, race, ethnicity, and nationality. She strongly believes in the participation of the community, especially the youth, in all development initiatives since this ensures local ownership and sustainable transformation. She also believes that gender mainstreaming is essential for achieving equitable human development.
Sharif Khoshnaw is young professional working in sustainability sector, especially environmental issues, and global warming. He is a Chevening Scholar Awardee, UK Government’s Fully Funded Scholarship 2016, where he finished his master’s degree (MSc) in Renewable Energy and Resource Management gradated at University of South Wales, UK in 2017. Furthermore, he has a bachelor’s degree BSc in Construction Engineering graduated from the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani in 2015.
Currently, he is an Environmental consultant for one of the US energy companies in Iraq. He has more than 7 years of experience in environmental advising/consulting for local and international companies in Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
In addition, he is an ambassador for Iraq by the Scholarship Alumni Climate Change Hackathon 2021 funded by the UK government to help young professionals in each country propose solutions on related sustainable goals. In 2021, with a colleague he participated in COP26 United Nations Climate Change in Glasgow, virtually, the hackathon and his proposal got finalized and to be implemented in the future in Middle East by offsetting CO2 emissions through plantation.
Hevi Salam is a young Engineer who minored in Information System engineering (ISE). Her skills include leadership, analytics, and public speaking, all of which are applied in daily tasks achieved for the organizational needs of different projects she operates. She is an alumnus of the 2019 Global solution sustainability challenge virtual exchange program sponsored by IREX and the U.S Department of State for exchange programs. She won international funds and awards from the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). In addition, she is a Teachers collaborating across borders (TCAB) member for 18 teachers from the United States and 18 from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region to engage in international dialogue and virtual exchange. She believes in the importance of students and youth to improve researching, communication, and public speaking skills that help to formulate resolutions to the world’s most pressing issues with other participants from different ethnicities, colors, backgrounds, and areas. My future goals are to combine knowledge in tech with my passion for volunteer work and helping people in times of need.
